I have loved reading the Message translation of the Bible. I try to memorize Scripture from other versions and if I want to do a more serious study, I really need to read a more accurate translation. But for my personal quiet times, I love the way the Message reads. And sometimes things will just speak more directly to me when it is different words than I have read over and over many times. Most anyone familiar with the Bible has heard God's Word compared to honey. Now to be truthful, I don't even like honey. I understood what this verse was getting at, but here is how it reads in the Message translation:
God's Word is better than a diamond, better than a diamond set between emeralds. You'll like it better than strawberries in spring, better than red, ripe strawberries.Psalm 19:10
If you know me, you know there is very little I like better than strawberries (maybe fresh peaches or chocolate). So, this verse is made more meaningful to me today as we have been enjoying the local strawberry harvest. Maybe you love fresh tomatoes, melon, sweet tea, chocolate. Whatever it is that your sweet tooth craves, think about it and then pray God's Word would be even sweeter to you.
