The kids decided to try and build every puzzle we own. They ran out of room to build on, but they did have puzzles under the table as well as covering it.

"Petri" Pepper grown in our garden and adopted and named by the kids.

Found these guys sitting in my kitchen. Couldn't resist a picture.

Some friends of friends made an enormous water slide in their yard. We were lucky enough to be invited for a day of fun in the water. It was a blast. I did try out the slide, but no pictures of me, thankfully.

Our school books came today. The kids are always excited to see what's in the box for them.

Homemade blackberry ice cream. (Picture of actual ice cream looked disgusting, so here's one of David eating it.) It was so yummy and this is one of my favorite kinds of ice cream to make at home.

John and I saw a rainbow as we were leaving the grocery store and called home to tell the kids. Taryn used my camera to get this picture.

Some of the kids are participating in a Sunday School class which is studying armor of God and has the "uniform" to go with it.

This wasn't posed. I just found him sitting on the end table, legs crossed, playing Legos. The face he made was for the benefit of the camera.

Small, simple things make me happy. Like the way the milk from my cereal fills in the blossom end of the blueberry (which my google search tells me is called the calyx) to make a perfect little star.

Poor David made some wasps angry today. One got him right on the eyelid (he had 4 other stings). This was much later in the evening and hence the smile. There were plenty of tears when it happened.

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Took our annual trip to the theater today to see the latest Pixar release, Cars 2. It was a fun romp.

The ladder was still up in the kitchen because the mess of beans in the kitchen from last night was more than an evening's worth of cleaning. Found Tina perched atop the ladder reading. "Hey, how about wiping some bean starch off the cabinets while you are up there!"

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Unbelievable. You may not be able to tell what this is. This is our dinner... on the ceiling. Had beans cooking in a pressure cooker. A bean got stuck in the regulator which caused the safety valve to pop. We were all safe and the beans were not burnt and we still ate beans for dinner. But it was not fun to clean up! And we had just wiped down the inside and outside of every cabinet in the kitchen as a summer cleaning project. But I'm sure I will laugh at the irony... one day.

David and Stripes (brand new zebra friend) off to spend the night at the hotel with Grandmama and Grandaddy.

Heavenly. Half bushel of peaches a friend brought from Gaffney.

Monday, July 11, 2011

Got our sweet Tina back from her week in Dalton. But before we left, this was the scene at our house. I told Sam to tell Grandma what happened. He said, "My dresser fell over." Then there was a long pause. "I was on top of it".

Beauty is everywhere. Even in the vegetable garden. Here are some of the more unusual flowers.

A friend of mine asked Rebekah to knit a case for her Kindle. Her only request was that Rebekah use green. I also knew that my friend likes elephants, so this is what Rebekah designed and made.

Thursday, July 7, 2011

David got this book for his birthday which he has really enjoyed.  Here he is hard at work (using his tongue to improve concentration).

Cucumbers are prolific. But the kids will eat one apiece at a single meal, so math will tell you that 16 cucumbers doesn't last long!
