So, the story begins. John finds a cute, little mouse nearly drowned outside in a large, plastic bin. John brings mouse inside, puts it in a jar and feeds it. Kids exclaim over how cute it is. We leave it in jar overnight. Mouse escapes by morning. John tells me not to worry... the mouse will just want to go back outside. Yes, especially after we fed it cookies and crackers. If it goes outside it will only be to bring back more mouse friends. We begin seeing the evidence that he has not gone home to the great outdoors, but is making itself at home all over our house. We try numerous iterations with a mouse trap with different tempting foods. Mouse either eats the yummy food without setting off trap or ignores food altogether. Hmmm. Smart mouse. Finally, we decide to use the humane trap we have and smart mouse decides this is his best bet. Finally! Good-bye little mouse!
